TONG-PA NYID
Emptiness - The Key to Happiness and Enlightenment
Teaching by Ponlop Trinley Nyima Rinpoche and Lama Khemsar Rinpoche
Synopsis:
The way we experience life – whether we will be happy or unhappy - is determined by the way we perceive things in our minds and react to them. During the course of these teachings, Ponlob Rinpoche will help us explore the mechanics of this process through U-MA CHEN-MO (the Great Vehicle of the Middle Way) which has emptiness as it’s central pillar. He touches upon key concepts such as the cause of suffering, the two truths (relative and ultimate), duality, the mistaken notion of impermanence, dependent arising / interdependent origination etc. – thus providing stepping stones towards an understanding of emptiness. Indeed, by the end of the teaching, we will come away armed with an understanding of emptiness that, if acted upon and realized, will provide us with the means to liberate ourselves completely from suffering and the shackles of Samsara.
Upon the invitation of Lama Khemsar Rinpoche we were very fortunate to once more receive another teaching from Ponlop Trinley Nyima Rinpoche (the head teacher of the Dialectic School at Menri Monastery, Dolanji, India), with additional translation and commentary by Lama Khemsar Rinpoche (Founder of the Tibetan Yungdrung Bon Study Centre).
THE POWER OF COMPASSION
Heartfelt Prayers of Tibet's Yungdrung Bon Tradition
Sung by Wang-dhen Zhu-yi Dhung-sey Lama Khemsar Rinpoche
Synopsis:
These prayers are beautifully recorded and presented here by our Spiritual Director and Founder of the TYBSC. Rinpoche states clearly on the CD cover that his profound wish is:
"that this CD does not become mere spiritual entertainment, rather my humble plea to everyone is to not just listen to the prayers, but to contemplate and try to experience the meaning of the words in conjunction with the prayers - and to try to apply the meaning into your daily life. These prayers are a universal, pure and pristine spiritual knowledge which can be embraced by anyone and become a valuable ornament to one's own faith. "
Prayers on the CD:
Dhe-chen Gyalpo (Homage Paying Prayer to the King of Great Bliss - The Awakened One), Mitak Gyud-kul (the Mortality Prayer), Sem-kyed (Prayer for the Generation of Enlightened Mind), Kyab-dro (Prayer for Going for Refuge in the Enlightened Beings), Nying-po Nam-soom (The Three Heart Essences) - Sale Wod (Clear Light Mantra), Ma-tri (See Syllable Mantra of the Six Liberating Teachers of the Six Realms), Du-Tri Su (Purification Mantra for the Suffering World), Yeshe Welmo (Invocation Prayer of the Enlightened Goddess Yeshe Welmo), Ngo-wa Mon-lam (Dedication Prayer).
Covering various Zogchen Ngon-dro (Foundation) practices this is a valuable support to all Rinpoche's students, plus the Tibetan is accompanied by the English meaning, so anyone can benefit from listening to it.
BON KHOR TSHIG ZHI
The Four Precept Instructions on Coaching the Wheel Of Bon
Teaching by Venerable Ponlob Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak (the most senior teacher of the Yungdrung Bon tradition) with Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche and Lama Khemsar Rinpoche.
Yongdzin Rinpoche taught from the text of BON KHOR TSHIG ZHI (The 4 Essential Instructions for Turning the Wheel of Bön) and imparted the Wang (empowerment), Loong (transmission) and Trid (instructions) associated with it. This text is a legacy of Buddha Tonpa Shenrab Miwoche, the founder of the Bön tradition. In the course of this teaching, Rinpoche examines and explains each of the 4 instructions, and demonstrates their interdependent nature - thus helping us to establish an understanding of :
1) Ta-wa
ye phub - the View, set from above, from whence the teachings are imparted
and should be practised
2) Chhod-pa Me zeg - how to maintain a proper Conduct derived from
that View
3) Zhe Nying-je Chenpo la lang - the Great Compassion which serves
as the Base, and
4) Thab Pharol Chin-pa Chu la Chhod - application through the Method
of Pharchin Chu (the Ten Perfections). Through applying these in our
everyday life, we can learn how to get in touch with our inner wisdom and are
helped on the way towards the goal of liberation from Samsara for all sentient
beings.
PHARCHIN CHU
The Ten Perfections
Ponlob Thinley Nyima Rinpoche and Lama Khemsar Rinpoche
Rinpoche will be teaching on Pharchin Chu , also known as the Ten Paramitas or the Ten Perfections. These constitute the backbone of the Buddha’s teachings. Each of us has within us the seed of Buddha nature (the potential to become a Buddha capable of leading others to enlightenment) waiting to germinate and bear fruit. The Pharchin Chu constitute the fertiliser which enriches the soil in which the seed is sown – thus nourishing it to grow into a strong tree capable of offering refuge or shelter to other life forms. Rinpoche will explore and explain each of the Pharchin Chu - thus showing us where to derive nutriment for our ownseeds and pointing us in the direction of the ‘other shore’of enlightenment however, if we wish to cross over to that shore, it is not enough to simply stand and contemplate it from a distance. We need to transport ourselves there. Through these teachings Rinpoche will be providing us with the boat and the oars. It is then up to us to board it, pick up the oars and row, since nothing is achieved without effort and it is through seizing opportunities to practice in our everyday life that we nourish the seeds of our Buddha nature to reach our goal.
